At Jacobs, ports aren’t just structures but are ways we connect people and goods. We’re seeking a Resident Engineer to help oversee the complex and the everyday project tasks on the port. This role will help you grow your career, but also grow client relationships and business development opportunities for Jacobs.

Jacobs is delivering engineering and construction management services on a major port project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The port is to be the world’s state-of-the-art container terminal integrated with a logistics hub at its core, whilst continuing to serve a variety of other commodities through its general cargo facility and bulk handling equipment. The port has a rail connection as well as an automated warehouse to support the supply chain.

Project scope mainly comprises of Marine works including quaywalls, breakwater, revetment and dredging, Onshore civil, electrical, mechanical, and structural works, Buildings and Rail.

Based in Saudi, as a Resident Engineer, you will provide oversight of the construction supervision of the projects to ensure that the design documentation is safely and accurately implemented on site, and that the requirements of the construction contract are followed. At the same time the Resident Engineer will be a focal point for any communication with the design office.

Make a difference. You will be a key part of our management team and will be heavily involved leading our Ports construction projects. In addition, your duties will be to:

You will have the opportunity to be a leader and provide direction to the team of ARE’s Engineers and Inspectors for the supervision of the construction of the works. You will represent Jacobs as the prime point of contact with the client for the construction supervision aspects of the project, including progress reporting, safety, financial recommendations, quality control and design modifications.
You will be able to ultilise your knowledge / communication skills by building trusted relationships with the Project Managers and with the client & contractor's counterpart staff. A key focus of yours will be focusing and implementing safe construction practices (Beyond Zero) and on maintaining a high quality of construction - leads by example in driving safe practices on site alongside using effective project management and controls systems to regularly report on progress. You will have accountability to monitor progress of construction against the program and take steps to ensure the program is achieved alongside ensuring project quality control procedures are used for the supervision works and monitors it for improvement. You will help facilitate audits when required in accordance with the contract requirements and company internal systems and contribute to the safety and build-ability reviews of the proposed designs.

Here’s What You’ll Need:


As a successful candidate you will have an Engineering degree from a recognised University with a background in site supervision and management of Ports & Marine Projects, specifically heavy port pavement and infrastructure works projects. You must have previous RE Experience on large scale projects. You will have experience in mentoring junior members of staff alongside acting as the resources manager for the Ports & Maritime site supervision staff throughout the project.
